El género amyris p. browne (rutaceae) en México Public Deposited
El género americano Amyris P. Browne pertenece a la familia Rutaceae e incluye alrededor de 40 especies distribuidas desde el sur de Estados Unidos, pasando por México y las Ant illas, hasta el sur de Venezuela y Perú. Para México, Villaseñor (2004) registró 15 especies . Por otra parte, Loera - Rivera (2012) documentó la presencia de 16 taxa en el país. Amyris tiene una taxonomía compleja y cuenta con pocos ejemplares en las colecci ones de herbario nacionales , por lo que requiere un tratamiento integral para entender su distribución en México. Con el fin de ubicar y delimitar el número de especies que conforman el género en estudio, se revisaron especímenes en 17 herbarios mexicanos , así como imágenes digitalizadas del material tipo de los tax ones que lo conforman. Se presenta el tratamiento taxonómico del género para México, incluyendo la descripción genérica y una clave de identificación de las especies. Para cada taxón se incluye sinonimia, distribución, tipos de vegetación y altitud, fenología, láminas ilustrativas y mapas de distribución. E n México se encuentran 1 6 especies de Amyris distribuidas, hasta donde se sabe, en 20 estados, una de ellas no descrita para la ciencia . Onc e especies son endémicas del país. Además, se detectó un problema con el nombre de Amyris P. Browne, el cual es en realidad un sinónimo taxonómico de Zanthoxylum L., por lo que en su lugar se propone usar el nombre válida y efectivamente publicado: Elemifera Burmann
The American genus Amyris P. Browne belongs to Rutaceae family and includes around 40 species distributed from the south of United States, through Mexico and West Indies, to the south of Venezuela and Peru. For Mexico, Villaseñor (200 4) recorded 15 species. On the other hand, Loera - Rivera (2012) documented the presence of 16 taxa in the country. Amyris has a complex taxonomy and counts with few specimens in the national herbarium collections, therefore it requires an integral treatment to understand its distribution in Mexico. In order to place and to delimit the number of species that conforms the genus in study, specimens of 17 Mexican herbaria collections were reviewed, as well as digitalized images of type material of the taxa that conform it. A taxonomic treatment of the genus to Mexico is presented, including the generic description and an identification key for the species. For each taxon are included synonymy, distribution, vegetation types and altitude, phenology, illustrative p lates and distribution maps. In Mexico are distributed 16 species of Amyris , up to where it is known, in 20 states, one of them not described for the science. Eleven species are endemic of the country. In addition, a problem with the name Amyris P. Brown e was detected, which is in fact a taxonomic synonym of Zanthoxylum L., so instead it is proposed to use the effectively and validly publicated name: Elemifera Burmann.
