Entre el control y la libertad: configuraciones de trabajo, identidad y acción colectiva de los taxistas de la Ciudad de México Público Deposited
La presente tesis analiza las configuraciones de trabajo, identidad y acción colectiva de los taxistas de la Ciudad de México, a partir de una perspectiva teórico-metodológica reconstructiva basada en la articulación entre estructura, subjetividad y acción. Se reconoce quiénes son los taxistas, cuáles son sus condiciones de trabajo y cómo desarrollan su ocupación, para reconstruir las relaciones de trabajo presentes en la actividad y las configuraciones identitarias con su ocupación, con la comunidad de operadores y con sus organizaciones gremiales, articulando los principales códigos de cinco campos de relaciones sociales –el trabajo, la organización gremial, la familia, el espacio urbano y el esparcimiento– que influyen en su conformación. Se muestra cómo esos códigos a la vez que brindan sentido de pertenencia, dividen a los taxistas en distintos estratos. Por lo tanto, se recuperan las continuidades y discontinuidades en su constitución. Luego, se indaga en el vínculo de las configuraciones identitarias –en relación con otros códigos, especialmente de la cultura política mexicana– con las organizaciones gremiales y la acción colectiva desplegada en los últimos años por los sujetos estudiados. El análisis muestra cómo la disputa por el control del trabajo, en otros términos, de la búsqueda de la libertad al trabajar, se vuelve el código articulador entre el trabajo, la identidad y la acción colectiva. En síntesis, el estudio permite, por un lado, conocer, reconstruir y analizar la realidad empírica de este sector de trabajadores; por el otro, profundizar la discusión teórica y conceptual en torno a las relaciones de trabajo, la identidad y la acción colectiva de trabajadores no clásicos.
This thesis analyzes the work, identity and collective action configurations of taxi drivers in Mexico City, from a reconstructive theoretical and methodological perspective based on the link between structure, subjectivity and action. It recognizes who the taxi drivers are, what their working conditions are and how they develop their occupation, to rebuild the work relations present in the activity and the identity configurations with their occupation, with the operators community and their associations, articulating the main codes of five fields of social relations –work, labor organization, family, urban space and recreation– that influence its conformation. It shows how these codes while providing a sense of belonging, divide taxi drivers in different groups. The study exposes the continuities and discontinuities in its constitution. Afterwards, it explores the link between the identity configurations –in relation to other codes, especially some of the Mexican political culture– with the taxi drivers’ organizations and the collective action developed by them in recent years. The analysis notes how the dispute over control, in other words, the pursuit of freedom, becomes the code that articulates work, identity and collective action. In sum, on one hand, the study allows to know, to reconstruct and to analyze the empirical reality of this sector of workers. On the other, it broadens the theoretical and conceptual discussion about work relations, identity and collective action of non-classical workers.
