Liminal identities. The case of Tsotsil and Tseltal writers in Chiapas Public Deposited
Identidades liminares: el caso de los escritores tsotsiles y tseltales en Chiapas
The main axis of the work revolves around the construction of the professional identity of the Tsotsil and Tseltal writers of Los Altos, Chiapas, which interweaves and nourishes from the individual experiences, which involve symbolic representations of the world and collective representations, which are elaborated from social and institutional frameworks. Then, identity is liminal, because it links, not always in harmonic terms, the continuous negotiations and resignifications between what’s objective and subjective; in this respect, the analysis addresses the different strategies used by the writers to build their professional identity, from their biographical trajectories and their process of professionalization.
El eje principal del trabajo gira en torno a la construcción de la identidad profesional de los escritores tsotsiles y tseltales de Los Altos de Chiapas; ésta se entreteje y nutre de las experiencias individuales, que conllevan representaciones simbólicas del mundo, y las colectivas, elaboradas desde marcos sociales e institucionales. La identidad es liminar porque conjunta, no siempre en términos armónicos, las continuas negociaciones y resignificaciones entre lo objetivo y lo subjetivo; en este sentido, lo que se analiza son las diferentes estrategias que pusieron en juego los escritores para construir su identidad profesional, a partir de la articulación de sus trayectorias biográficas y su proceso de profesionalización.
